Subaru announces $75M expansion of its Indiana plant

 As we expected, Subaru has confirmed that it will expand its Lafayette, Indiana, plant as part of its greater focus on the North American market.

The $75 million project will see production capacity of the Outback and Legacy models increase, while up to 100 new jobs will be created by the end of 2014. The expansion should also allow building about 24,000 extra vehicles, a boost of about 15 percent over current levels.

Subaru Edges Mazda, Toyota, and Honda in Consumer Reports' New Ranking of Best Automakers

The Subaru Impreza, redesigned for 2012, is Consumer Reports' top pick among small cars, edging out the Hyundai Elantra.

Subaru edged Mazda, Toyota and Honda to earn the highest score in Consumer Reports' latest report card ranking 13 automakers based on road tests and reliability. But Toyota dominated the magazine's top picks in five of 10 product segments, becoming the first automaker to do so in nearly a decade.
