Ok, let's be realistic here. For those of us that have been lucky enough to even drive (let alone own) a WRX, finding out the WRX is on the list for being one of the quickest cars for the money is not really a surprise.
None the less, it is nice to see the automotive community noting this as well and motorauthority has named their list and the WRX does fall into the list.
"Subaru quotes magazine tests for its 2011 Impreza WRX at 4.7 seconds to 60 mph, and with 265 horsepower on tap in stock form, a new body style borrowed from the hotter STI version, and several other revisions for the new model year, the WRX's $25,495 starting price makes this one of the best performance-per-dollar deals available anywhere--and that's before you make a few relatively inexpensive aftermarket modifications to unleash its true potential."
The aftermarket modifications they are likely talking about are the same ones I have used on my personal Turbo Subaru models...the Cobb Tuning stage 2 kit. This changes the vehicle's power behavior while shooting you into the back of the seat when you find that skinny pedal touching the carpet of the floor.
Congrats to Subaru and to all of the enthusiasts out there that continue to stand behind Subaru and show that not all fast cars have big engines and/or cost an arm and a leg.
BRING ON THE 2012 WRX/STI MODELS! Let's see what Subaru has in store for this all new redesign!
