Grayson Subaru Answers: How Do Brake Pads Work?

Brake pads are metal plates curved in the shape of a horseshoe. They fit into calipers on your car's wheels, pressing upon rotors or metal discs attached to your car's axles. When you press the brake pedal, brake fluid is forced through two pistons within the caliper, causing the brake pad to move inward and clamp down onto the disk.
