I am a loyal Subaru owner and absolutely love the vehicles, the brand, and what the manufacturer does for its vehicle owner, its employees, and the environment.
Our current 2011 Subaru's do not have many miles on them (1500 on the Forester and just under 7000 on the Outback), but the Outback has already had adventures to Nashville and Myrtle Beach.
My wife took the Outback to Myrtle Beach and averaged 32mpg on the trip down and 30.4mpg on the way back. The automatic CVT transmission equipped models actually get better MPG than my 6 speed. I have many customers getting 30-35mpg consistently in their Outbacks. We are getting 28-30 MPG in the Forester currently, but have only gone about 100 miles or so at one time, but plan on a Nashville trip the day after Christmas to visit family in which we will likely pack up the Forester for that trip.
