The 2022 Subaru BRZ zooms onto the Car & Driver 10Best list
The hard-to-please editors at Car & Driver turned out to be surprisingly pleasant when they finished reviewing the newest version of the Subaru BRZ. They praised Subaru for its masterful re-design. They were impressed that engineers stuck with the virtuous, naturally-aspirated flat-four engine while increasing its displacement. The new 2.4-liter version now generates 228 horsepower with 184 lb.-ft of torque.
A personality makeover for a car that already had a perfectly good personality
Not to get you too rev'd up about this, but Car & Driver editors had their eyes opened wide when the new engine hits its peak horsepower at about 7,000 rpm's. Yet the power plant manages to retain some serious mojo in the mid-range as well. The newly-discovered set of muscles can be expressed with the help of available Michelin Pilot Sport 4 summer tires.

A sports car with some stability
The Car & Driver reviewers were also impressed that the new BRZ improved areas they didn't know needed improving. They cite the BRZ's torsional rigidity getting bolstered a remarkable 50%, making this sports car an absolute rock star in terms of stability. They note that this kind of handling solidity isn't usually found in a sports car as small and affordable as the new BRZ. Drivers from Oak Ridge and Knox County TN will be just as impressed.
What else is new for 2022?
It's a subtle change but the new 2022 Subaru BRZ crouches about a half-inch lower, giving it just a little bit more of a racy appearance. The interior has been loaded with more cool tech features without giving up this car's Subaru-style practicality. There are two trim levels, Premium and Limited. The Car & Driver observers said they recommended spending a little more for the Limited so a buyer can get the 18-inch aluminum wheels.
