Forester Hybrid Design & Interior
Subaru gave the regular, gas-powered Forester a full makeover for the latest model year. The Forester Hybrid launches with the same design as the revamped Forester. The Forester Hybrid makes a remarkable first impression, with a muscular frame and eye-catching exterior paint options. The Forester Hybrid also has a large grille, flanked by striking headlights and a sculpted hood. The available wheel designs are sporty and stylish, with the 19-inch wheels on the Sport trim standing out from the crowd. The Forester Hybrid even gets its own pain color: Daybreak Blue Pearl. Some paint colors also pair with an available Crystal Black Silica roof for a head-turning two-tone appearance.
Inside the cabin, the Forester Hybrid continues to impress. Select trims can be equipped with durable, leather-free StarTex® upholstery. Standard dual-zone automatic climate control makes it easy to set the right temperature for everyone in the vehicle. Need to store your belongings? Fold down the rear seats for extra cargo space, or use the standard roof rails to transport your bicycle or kayak for your next adventure.
Forester Hybrid Performance
Under the hood of every new Forester Hybrid is the classic 2.5-liter Subaru Boxer® four-cylinder engine. This engine pairs with an electric motor to generate 194 total horsepower, which outpaces the 180 horsepower of the gas-powered Forester. The engine pairs with a Continuously Variable Transmision (CVT) and standard Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive.
When you drive a hybrid version of an existing vehicle, you no doubt expect to find improved gas mileage. The Forester Hybrid more than delivers on this expectation. The Forester Hybrid boasts a fuel efficiency rating that is up to 40 percent better in the city and 25 percent better on the highway than gas-powered Forester's already impressive figures. All told, the Forester Hybrid gets EPA-estimated ratings of up to 35 miles per gallon in the city, 34 miles per gallon on the highway, and 35 miles per gallon combined. This adds up to a driving range of up to 581 miles on a full fuel tank, making the Forester Hybrid a fantastic road trip vehicle.
How Capable is the New Hybrid Powertrain?
Worried that a revamped powertrain with new hybrid hardware might mess with the Forester's legendary capability? Don't be! Subaru engineers meticulously crafted the Forester Hybrid's powertrain to work seamlessly with the Forester's hardware. In fact, the Forester Hybrid gains some notable boosts to its capability, including while off-roading. Subaru's "series-parallel system" lets the hybrid engine switch between the gas engine and the 1.1-kWh electric motor to deliver power to the wheels, depending on the driving situation. The Forester Hybrid also comes standard with 8.7 inches of ground clearance, so you can tackle tough terrain with ease.
Forester Hybrid Technology
The Forester Hybrid comes standard with plenty of exciting tech features that are available on the gas-powered Forester. An 11.6-inch touchscreen anchors the infotainment system, providing intuitive control over vehicle settings, navigation, audio, apps, and more. Wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ come standard, so you can easily connect your smartphone to the infotainment setup and gain access to music, podcasts, and hands-free messaging and calls.
