Few changes have been made to the Outback this year. The optional XT package for the Limited gives the models access to the more powerful turbocharged 260-hp 2.4-liter engine. Also, all Limited trims now feature a power sunroof, an 11.6-inch infotainment screen with navigation, driver attention monitoring, and a heated steering wheel.
Inside, the 2026 Outback introduces a more spacious and refined cabin layout, providing comfortable accommodations for five passengers and ample room for both front and rear occupants. The new Subaru Outback generation also expands its available cargo capacity, offering 34.6 cubic feet behind the second row and up to 80.5 cubic feet with the rear seats folded. For larger items that don't fit inside the cabin, all 2026 Outback models now include the Wilderness trim's reinforced roof rails, which can support 220 pounds while moving and up to 800 pounds when parked-perfect for a rooftop tent.
The 2026 Outback is nicely equipped with several comfort and convenience enhancements, including available amenities like:
The 2026 Outback is propelled by a standard 2.5-liter SUBARU BOXER® engine that makes 180 horsepower and 178 pound-feet of torque. A Lineartronic® CVT balances efficiency with responsiveness, while standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive and X-MODE® traction management ensure confident handling and control in various conditions.
Sevierville shoppers seeking even more potent propulsion can look to the XT or Wilderness models, which utilize a turbocharged 2.4-liter engine with 260 horsepower and 277 pound-feet of torque. For outdoor enthusiasts who like to explore beyond the asphalt, the Subaru Outback Wilderness adds serious off-road enhancements, including 9.5 inches of ground clearance, all-terrain tires, skid plates, dual-function X-MODE®, and more.
This seventh-generation Outback debuts Subaru's most advanced technology interface yet. A standard 12.1-inch infotainment display with integrated Google-based software delivers quicker touch response, streamlined menus, and seamless access to navigation and apps. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard, while a new 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster provides crisp, at-a-glance driving information that makes it easier to stay focused on the road.
The 2026 Outback has an expanded driver-assist suite with newly available enhancements such as Highway Active Lane Change Assist, Pre-Curve Speed Control, Highway Automatic Resume Assist, and Highway Hands Free Assist. However, regardless of your chosen configuration, you'll get standard EyeSight® driver aids like:
In every new Outback, there's a bundle of advanced driver-aids called Eyesight. With EyeSight, drivers receive forward-collision warnings, automated emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control with lane-keeping assist. But for drivers looking for more advanced tech like blind-spot monitoring and a rear cross-traffic alert, shoppers will need to upgrade to a higher trim.
